I really want to do a week of this newsletter called No Music Tuesday but I can’t figure out what else I’d want to talk about. This newsletter is also (selfishly) for me more than you because I like to go back every so often and see what albums/songs I missed so skipping a week means that I’m playing myself.

THE ALMANAC OF RAP
This week we re-aired the DJ R-Tistic episode from season 2. You can listen to it here but it’s not on Youtube since it’s an audio episode. One of last week’s REDACTED guests did in fact have to move their interview to a later date so that name will remain REDACTED but I did interview Everlast, Too $hort and The Beatminerz. We’ve had some pretty insane guests so far and were only about halfway through the season!
NEWS
I ate a salad today. Who would have ever imagined that eating healthy would be living on the edge! I did take ever precaution I could to ensure that It was parasite free but if this is how my story ends so be it. It was delicious and I’ll be doing it again tomorrow.
It was pretty easy to avoid in general because I had to have a tooth extracted. For those of you that have never had to endure this experience there is like a solid week where you have to have a soft diet comprised of room temperature foods. It was… boring as fuck until I started experimenting with pureed vegetables. After that it was slightly more tasty but still boring because soft is not my favorite texture. It was also pretty painful so if you saw me outside just know that you saw a man fighting for his life on an empty stomach.
So yeah I finally had a salad and it was one of the the highlights of my month!
VIDEOS
Bilal’as North Sea Jazz Festival set got posted and it’s fantastic. There were a few tracks in his set where he interpolated (maybe the wrong word) Madlib and Dilla and it was so good.
Fat Joe and Jadakiss dropped a video for their record with Stove God Cooks. I already liked the song so the video is just kinda like icing on the cake. Apparently there is some kinda beef brewing between Kiss and this dude named 38 Spesh.
I’m genuinely uninterested in whatever that is about tho.
Tash has been mounting a comeback for a while now and I’m pretty excited about it. His latest video has the Likwit Crew, Q-Tip and Will.I.Am on it and it’s a really dope song. The video uses AI in a pretty creative way so I’m not complaining about that at all. From King Tee to Xzibit the whole gang is there and it’s really dope to see these cats still being active.
A video for a new(?) Digital Underground song dropped and it made me miss Shock G. My ears are pretty tied up in research these days but I think I need to revisit their catalog when I have a moment to actually sit and enjoy music.
Chad Hugo dropped a video for his song Jumpupw!nya and I’m pretty sure that I wrote about it last week but i’m including it again this week because I’m that excited about it. It’s such a good record1
